I basically got this one for free in an ebay auction lot. The seller did not post very good photos. What grade would you say?

I would say xf45 or higher; the toning makes it particularly difficult to grade. But there does not seem to be much wear. The spot around the ST in STATES might be an issue though. Incredible deal either way!

You guys are harsh.

I don't see this coin as any worse than AU55, and probably better.

Looks like a pretty big difference in opinions. Maybe these last three photos will help with a final verdict. Thanks though guys. I'm not planning on doing anything with it, except take it out and admire it every now and then.

Great picture of the hair under "liberty", which show a little wear.
I'll raise my bid from 53 to AU55
reverse is a AU58 though
On a Barber dime, I loook for details on the corn kernels, hair detail under liberty, among other things...

I bet Matthew has a thing or two to say about ths coin...
I'll wait for his expertise on the matter...

Revision: I will say that the reverse with the new pics is a very nice AU 58, and the Obverse an AU 55, so probably around 55 total. Nice coin!

Ah, from these photos I can see that what I thought was wear beneath the band isn't such :). I don't think it reaches 58, but might go AU53.

Well it was a lot of 22 indian heads including a CN, a flying eagle, and another AU Barber dime. I ended up getting all of it for $43.
Like I said the seller posted some pretty bad pics but I gues I saw something special with the dimes that nobody else did and actually put in a bid quite a bit higher than $43.

Thanks guys
