im new to canadien and other silver too, on provident.com they are selling a 2013 silver maple leaf, 1oz for 26.00 is that a fair price to buy. oh and a 2013 Chinese panda 1 oz for 30.00.
are these cheaper in price because they are bullion and not proofs?
im looking to get my hand on some of these that everyone is talking about should I start with these two?

1---Right now, those are good prices.
2---Maples are low-premium, mass-produced bullion and they're famous for milk spots, deficient quality control and transit damage, but the premium is about
as low as govt-issued coins get, so that's the way it goes. They're the #1 bullion coin that I love to hate and hate to love, though I have a fair number of them.
3---Pandas have a considerably higher premium and come in individual capsules and in far better condition as a rule of thumb. If you stack Pandas in quantity,
a lot more of your $$ gets lost to premiums and less goes into silver in your hands. That used to be OK when Panda mintages were limited, but since they're
now put out in very large quantities, the sensibility of the high premium is debatable. Nonetheless, they remain very popular with a lot of stackers these days.
4---This is a purely personal thing, but I prefer ASEs over Pandas. Far less $$ for premiums, more silver in hand per dollar spent and in the US, they're about
as liquid as liquid ever gets. Libertads and Philharmonics have fairly low premiums and are reasonably liquid, too.
5---Another personal thing is I don't think you can go wrong with Provident. Good customer service, good prices, standard shipping charges and delays.

Bottom line is you need to do your own research, reach your own conclusions and make your own decisions and choices. If you go with what "everybody else
is talking about" you could end up with a pile of presently popular, overpriced stuff that'll lose its popularity and value as time passes. Being a slave to fashion
doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand with making prudent PM purchases. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I have dealt with Provident and have no gripes with them. They are fair in their pricing and send the product quickly.

thanks so much for the advice guys, I will probably buy them just so I can say I have them. I guess I don't like spending a lot of money and these were cheap so why not...

In the end, you can never go wrong with a pile of metal. I love junk silver, and get most of mine for coin roll hunting. I only recently bought my first ASE. I got it for $25 from a cash4gold buddy I made :)
