So I was looking to purchase some Seated halves and came across the ebay coin dealer, Eternity Coins. This dealer deals in only high-end coins and seems to have only desirable coins from the most popular coin series'. I'm not sure as to whether he is a legitimate seller. I've looked at their coins before, seem to have lots of really nice TPG stuff... What do you mean by legitimate? Looks like he has great feedback and the coins are slabbed... |

Not like the legitimacy of the coins but if he actually has those coins and will deliver. I've seen ebay sellers who had coins listed that they didn't actually have and just that they stole the pictures from another dealer. Also some dealers buy feedback. Example:www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=156669 Just wanted to know if people thought the dealer was legitimate and that I should purchase coins from them. |

I have bought a couple of coins from Eternity Coins. They were as advertised, and I was happy with the purchases.
They were not bargain basement prices, but they were not crazy high either. I would definitely buy from again.

I bought a slabbed 1923-S PD from that seller in April and had no issues.

Thanks all. I was thinking of purchasing a XF Details 1806 DBH from them and it's a $1000. So I just wanted some opinions before I spent that money.

I am still miffed about being sniped on a Great Collections auction last July, then seeing the same coin show up on ebay within days. Offered by eternitycoins at 80% markup over the auction price. However, the coin has serious damage and has not sold in 5 months. I guess that running an on-line museum is their punishment. I would still like to have the coin, but it is not worth more to me than my original bid. I am seeing the same issue with a lot of scarce problem coins these days. When they're available at all, they're snapped up by dealers like eternitycoins, who game the prices and put them out of the range of collectors. Of course they're the real deal bobby. They sniped me, then jacked the price WAY up. That doesn't earn my business EVER. A lot of people like them but I have a different opinion.

Remember that I'm one of the few potential buyers for that distressed coin mac. I'd still be a buyer at 10-15% markup, but this is like a butcher selling soup bones for the price of tenderloin.

We have all lost out at auctions getting out bid for something that we really wanted.
Certainly no big deal .

Just got a PF69 '55 LWC from them and couldn't be happier with it. The coin [in hand] is much better than the pics. |

So my takeway from this is to change my maximum bids to a level where flippers like eternitycoins cannot possibly resell the coin with their 80% markup. For problem coins, bidding a maximum of 60% of the PCGS undamaged grade should be sufficient. That would force them to resell the damaged coin for higher than list for a straight graded coin. For the coin in question, my maximum was only 30% of F-12. However, the coin's appearance suggested a grade more like AG-3 to me, due to very uneven wear and damage, and not worth any more to me than my maximum bid. eternitycoin's mistake was not my mistake, and the coin has been sitting as dead stock on ebay for 5 months now.
