Guys, I was going to hold off on posting this album until it was complete, but the prices asked, and received, in the current market are high enough to keep me from getting a 1893-S for quite awhile, and, since I wanted to share with y'all the next chapter in my continuing saga with the Morgan dollar, I decided to just go ahead and post the incomplete set. This one consists of more "trickle down" coins. Each time I'm able to upgrade a coin in my first set, the upgraded coin goes into the second set, and that upgraded coin goes here. I hope you've enjoyed viewing the two previous sets, and will enjoy this one as well. I've had big fun getting this far, and, providing life doesn't throw me a mean curve, I look forward to many more years of collecting this wonderful, fascinating coin - THE Morgan dollar!!!

Nice.
I only have 7 different Morgans but have 9 SLQ sets that suffer from the same trickle down upgrading you mention.

Wait, wait, wait. . . . a 3rd set, Ralph? Really? Now you're just rubbing it in. Again, this is pretty awesome. What is it actually like to behold these sets in person? Man oh man!

That is a great accomplishment congrats, have you had time to VAM any of your coins? There might be a treasure in there that could fund another 93-s.....

Ralph, you are to Morgan dollars what JustCarl is to Mercury dimes . I guess we wouldn't collect coins if we were not borderline OCD. I have to admit I never sell a coin when I get an upgrade either. Congrats on another wonderful set of Morgans!

3rd set! You do realize that you could leave some for the rest of us to collect? If not, do you want to be my daddy?

Jack - I can fully understand where you're coming from on the Standing Liberty quarters. A person finds a coin that they really like, and they focus on upgrading the first set, with the result being the additional sets. I think its pretty cool myself. And, I can understand your fondness for the SLQs - got a set myself - only lacking a 1916 to complete it.

Darth - it feels pretty spiffy; however, I've got them in my box at the bank, and only bring them home when I've managed to get a few to upgrade the first set, and, then, its only for a short time that they're here before I return them to the bank. In fact, I have my whole coin collection there - sleep better at night knowing they're not just laying around the house.

Why don't you dump your two spare sets and then liquidate other assets to acquire a '95? You can probably get an XF details '95 for $25k or so.

Tinman - Nope. Haven't really concentrated on the VAM area of the Morgans. And, too, I've never sold a coin.....not yet anyway. I'll most likely just keep plodding along the same way I have for years now - keep adding a little to my set aside, and eventually it will be fat enough to go shopping for another '93-S.

FadeToBlack - I've yet to sell the first coin so I'm not sure that would ever happen.....I like coin collecting too much to dump most everything I've put together over the years in order to get one coin, and, being somewhat frugal, I don't see me ever paying $25,000.00 for any coin.....just a simple country boy that likes to collect coins as a hobby. I'm not really a wealthy man, and there are so many other things I could do with that kind of cash.
And, too, a coin such as the 1895 (in my mind) would be more of an investment than part of a collection, and I'm having too much fun as a collector to get into the investment end of it. Don't get me wrong, I do realize, in a sense, my collection is, indeed, an investment, and would definitely keep the wolf from the door should hard times ever come a'knockin', but, for now, its just an enjoyable hobby.
