Definitely appears to be one to me. I'm no expert but the signs are right. Split serif's, widening of the devices. Looks good, but wait for the pro's.

The images are too close or too far. We need something in between to see what is going on with your coin.

I have been watching this one and I am not sure. I want to say I see split serifs but I also know lighting can be deceiving. How many light sources are you using? Do you have any other pictures?

I won't say I am an expert as I have been searching for errors for only about a year now. I have gone through a large amount of of rolls and so far found three of the 1973-D DDOs.
BTW - there is also listed a 73-D that is missing the F in the designer's initials - I have found a couple of these also.

Normally on the other DDO dates, I use the leg of the R as the primary point to check, but in the 73-Ds, I have one with a weak strike where it is hard to see the R's doubled leg. But the S's doubling in its bottom curve still shows up well.

I see what your saying. My 3 looks similar but not quite as visible in "TRUST". Maybe a later die state?

Sorry I do not know about that. I know that I learned from the Cherrypicker's Guide and they mention that the word TRUST is the area to look.

There actually are a few different DDOs for this date - as listed at Variety Vista:
http://varietyvista.com/Variety%20M...971-1994.htm

I believe the DDO-001 is the one seen/sold on ebay. When you see one in person, its hard to miss seeing the next one.

Also, I have learned that there are varieties not listed also. I have a 1972 DDO half that is not listed anywhere - but definitely a DDO.

But since the doubling is so minor that only a piece with a great strike will show it, I do not believe anyone would pay a premium for it either (found at least 4 of them and stopped saving them).
