Looks like a die crack on the reverse from the first "N" in "PENNY" straight up to the rim. Also, I am seeing some interesting lines/cracks on a few of the letters. The "O" in "OF" And the "Y" in "PENNY".

Are these common worn die issues?

I looked for an example on here but didn't see any.

Camera is charging....sorry.

Any thoughts?

There are known Rev die cracks, mainly over/through mmonwea and Australia. Also known to have a dot after second N of Penny, and a blob in the E of One.

Look forward to seeing some piccies.

Die cracks on Australian pennies are extremely common. I dont know about those particular cracks but there are a few members who can probably tell you. Even scarce die cracks attract very littlenpremium though.

The die crack I thought I was seeing was something else. Now on the front I see other odd stuff.

This coin looks a little strange to me.

It seems to have been subjected to corrosion, because what I am looking at is a rather rough surface texture.
It was in about Fine condition before being subjected to a corrosive environment.
The top scroll above 'ONE' is almost completely gone.

Another (what seems to be a) die crack can be seen on the obv., from behind the crown, down to 'P'.

I see the remains of evidence of a die crack on the vertical leg of 'Y'.

A comparative ring tone test against a British Penny may be of help. The Australian and British pennies of this period had the same specification.

An interesting piece for study, but not of any real value.

The surface does look corroded; can you weigh it? It has possibly been 'dipped' in something that's removed some of the surface. I don't think there would be any great value in it in it's condition.

After seeing this coin, I was wondering how many others that passé through my hands might have had some overlooked issues.

Didn't think too much about value since it was dipped or cleaned or played with. I was interested in the die chips and cracks. Things to look for in the future.

THANKS
