Yeah, nice to read it on a non-financial basis. Also good to see that guy is going to see the coins in the museum they were placed in. Can't wait to see what the research comes up with for these guys.

I've only heard of the two-face Roman coin before, and look at that. He FOUND one. I would donate the non silver coins and slab the silver.

Donation or not may not be up to him. If the coroners report decides these are of historical importance and of interest to the nation he will get full compensation - but not necessarily the coins.

I think the UK's system is quite good in this regard - Important stuff gets preserved for the nation - but most of it is returned (after possible cataloguing) so the finder and land owner can do what they like with it.

I don't know of anyone in the UK who would slab an ancient - it's just not done to any scale here.
