The date also appears wrong to me. I don't think it being raw is a plus either.

Thanks for your input.I also think the date has been altered. I tried to contact the seller to get a better picture of the date but I get no response. I feel sorry for the person that gets this coin.

Looks like a fake to me, based on the strong N on the reverse.

For this coin to be real it has to be a proof. I agree with others that the date looks suspect but we need better pictures. One of the other diagnostics is a bulging right pennant on the T in CENT on the most common reverse die. I don't see it on this coin
Also, this seller has sold only 15 items and presently only has one coin for sale. Snow believes that no more than 1500 1877 proofs were minted. The likelihood that this seller has one is slim.

Looks like a replica coin you can buy on line for a cpl bucks. All his other sales have been marrakesh vegetable curries.

No one in their right mind (except Richard Snow and Angel Dee's) buys a raw 1877 IHC.

It looks highly suspicious to me as well. The date has the look of a Chinese fake.

It appears to be a genuine IHC with an altered date. Definitely not a genuine 1877.

Looks fake. The N's are not properly worn on the reverse. Sounds fake, if the guy has something selling for $350+ and he not willing to send a better picture. I did buy a raw 1877, and I am still fretting over it. It was from an reputable seller on ebay that has many 1000s of sales and an actual brick and mortar store.. It seems to be real, from what I can tell. But I still have my doubts. I've got photos somewhere is any one is intested to see. However, I do agree with the post above, that a graded one would be a wiser buy for this type of coin.

Good call to be suspicious of this coin and evoke the opinions of the CCF experts. I am not an expert in this series .... however know enough about the coin to caution you away from it ... most likely an altered date IHC. David
