Many collectors .. after they have been collecting for years, end up with a lot of duplicate or odd coins that don't fit into the normal album/folders. Not sure but I think many of these coins end up in coin storage boxes or three ring binders. Like these. (sample of some of my storage boxes) A couple months ago I came across some Dansco stock albums (7000). They come with 9 pages that hold 2X2's. Of course I add a couple pages, for more coins. Once I saw these albums, I started to think of different ways to store/display some of the coins I have in my storage boxes .. and roll boxes. I though I would post some pictures to maybe give other CCF members some ideas on how they can collect outside the normal album/folder sets. I have started calling them my 12 books or fun books. 12 books because there you put 12 coins per page .. sort of like mini sets ... and fun because most of the coins have come from my own collection .. storage boxes. Album one - Copper coins Early copper and some ancients coins Need to put some more work into labels. Some large cents Have a lot of proof cents, rolls and 2X2's, so I put in a set from 1953 through 2009 (sample of pages) Will be a page of varieties. I like this page. Good example of large and small date Lincoln cents. Top of page are the large dates, with small dates, 3 each, below. Edited by GR58 09/04/2013 08:01 am

That is all I have for now ..
I hope this gives some other members some ideas on different ways to collect ...display their coins.
I still have to figure out a way to put some 1/2, 2 and 3 cent coins into these albums.

Those lone ancients are nice. YOu should do a post in the ancients section.
My odd coins go into a box. Nice ones get flipped and put into the random box.

Wow if those are your extra coins I would love to see your main collection! I'm only now beginning to get duplicates and it is only of random Roosies, but I like this idea a lot. I will probably wait until I get to the point where it is more space efficient to have the album rather than getting another box to fill.

Nice "extras" that looks like a decent amount of coins for a dealer stock at a small coin show actually.

Well done and very, very nice! I use the 7000 albums for all of my foreign and miscellaneous coins. I like them. Of course, my sets are no where near as varied or expansive as yours.

Very nice extras! I can really appreciate your dedication to preservation and display. I think I noticed a couple errors in there too!

I'm a beginner collector myself (just started a little less than a year ago in Oct.-Dec.), so seeing all this makes me dream up of what my collection will look like in several years time. Nice old coins; I just loving seeing the years 17** or 16** on a coin because it makes me want it, regardless of metal content. I don't have any binders, but I got two albums and a small drawer filled with my stuff.

I well know how you feel. My extras are well out of control. I've got 9 of those 2 row whitman boxes full of 2x2's. Several boxes of rolls of duplicates. A 4" 3 ringed binder full of those 20 slotted pages full of extra proofs. A few boxes of just foreign coins. Several Boxes of Proof and Uncirc sets. Over 100 Albums. I sometimes do consider either taking all the extras to a coin show or start using ebay to get rid of this overage. So far in over 60 years of collecting I've never sold a coin.

Wow!! Very nice!! I agree, if those are your extras.. Well .. I kinda do the same thing.. Only far less and with regular hard cover binders (let over from high school & college 8+ years ago, lol), not Dansco's.. I'd definitely have to say the Dansco's look far better!! I'll have to look into that!!
