Just so you know, GR58, like many of your others, this thread is a major speed bump!

Whenever I open it, I have to look at the photos again.

Nice "extras" that looks like a decent amount of coins for a dealer stock at a small coin show actually.

Westcoin and Conder101

For years I put away coins .. thinking someday I would open my own coin shop. As I get older not sure if I want to do that. But the coin shows might be fun.. maybe in 5 to 10 more years.

This is just a sample of the extra coins .. or coins I don't have albums for.

I am sure I don't have the quality and quantity of coins that some of the CCF members have, but I get more every week.

I spent most of the day at a local coin shop, there was suppose to be a large collection come in. The guy ended up calling to say he would not make it until tomorrow.

Sometimes these are good .. and sometimes people think their collection are not as nice or as large as they think.

But from what he said .. tomorrow I might be buying Morgan dollars ..

I'm only now beginning to get duplicates and it is only of random Roosies, but I like this idea a lot

whywing .. just keep at it, and over the years your collection will grow.

One of the things I started doing 30 years ago. Was buy silver dimes. If there was not a coin at the local shops that I wanted, I just continued to buy silver dimes.

I sell them when silver is high ... or when there is a higher price coin that I want.

I also put BU's away .. by the roll. One of my cool storage boxes has 20 rolls of BU Roosevelt dimes .. and I am working on a 20 roll box of Mercury's.

So keep at it .. buy what you can and hold it .. your collection will grow

I hope it gives you some good ideas ..

Now you are making me think I should have taken more time and gotten better pictures.

For me .. I think how I organize, store and display my collection ...can somehow make me enjoy it better.

I agree with the first and third statements. Especially the third.

As for the second, they look good enough for me.

A couple members mentioned, what my main collection is, and got me wondering.

I just spent 30 minutes looking for Dansco albums, I think I found most of them.

I have mentioned before that I like modern coins and that shows in the bulk of my albums.

Most of these albums are complete, if my count is right there is 8 that are not. Of those 4 of them only need a couple to finish. The Mercury dime album is the closest.
For it I need the 1916 D, I have a friend that is a very old collector, he talks of selling me one of his. By waiting, I will get my best deal on that coin.

Most of them?

Some stack silver, but you stack albums. That is what I call a nice stack.

Yes sir .. I have a bad habit of hiding them. In fact I found another one, as I was putting them away.

Question on the Dansco 7000 with the 2x2 pages. Are you at all concerned with possible PVC damage to coins stored in the pages that fit in the 7000, or do you think cardboard 2x2s or mylar flips offer adequate protection?

I have several of these albums, the oldest from the late 1980's. I have had no problems with any of the coins. The pages are in great shape with no signs of breaking down.

I feel my success is a combination of the 2x2 protection with my keeping the albums in a climate controlled location (unstable storage environment contributes to PVC breakdown).

Having the PVC in direct contact with a coin is definitely bad, but I am not sure about outgassing (and subsequent condensation of outgassed material). This is why I feel that storage environment is critical. I can only speak of my own experience. Your mileage may vary.

I agree with Jbuck.

When I first saw these albums, they had been bought into a LCS when the owners were selling off their collections. Two albums were full of copper and nickel coins, a third was completely full of gold coins, (classic $10 and $20's) The owners said the
coins were in the albums for many years, I saw no sign of PVC damage.

As Jbuck stated, keeping your coins in a climate controlled environment, is very important, for anyway you store your coins.

I started using these albums over a year ago, I have some similar albums I use for my currency, that I have had currency in for 2 or 3 years. Those bills are directly placed in the pages. So far I have not had any issue with the albums causing any problems.
