After aquiring a set of john Adams gold brick ballistic roll, I decided to look around to see what they may be going for.... Strange enough, they barely seem to be worth 50.00 for 50.00 face value of coins. Are the Presidential dollars just that unpopular? There was a finished auction on ebay for 40.95 plus 10.00 shipping.

Just a guess after removing lead pellets, the roll is tapped to shot gun shell?

Maybe he is talking about shotgun rolls of John Adams dollar coins. Tightly wrapped rolls with tamper-proof ends by a bank or the mint are often called shotgun roll(s).

No, "ballistic rolls" are a marketing scam done by the World Reserve Monetary Exchange. They basically repackage a regular roll of Presidential dollars in cardboard "gold bricks" and hype them to the moon and back as something special, but in the end they are still just ordinary face-value coins.

Aha! Now know exactly what your talking about. I went to an estate sale where they had one and they were charging $60.00

yes, a 'ballistic" roll is a gold brick box with a tube of uncirculated golden Presidential dollar coins. it is a roll of 50 coins. It seems odd that fifty dollars in face value coins are almost selling less than face value while packaged this way.

No, it would be odd if fifty dollars in face value coins actually sold for more than face value while packaged this way.
Fancy packaging doesn't increase the value of the coins.

But I too would figure they would maybe have A LITTLE premium being BU. But technically LESS than face value? WOW.

Looks like the best thing to do in this situation is get the seller's address, go to their location and pick up all the rolls you can at $41 each with no shipping costs. Assuming travel expenses don't outweigh the profit. On second thought, given the price of gas these days...

Sorry, I misunderstood. I always thought the "ballistic" meant what the owner would be after finding how much his or her double shotgun rolls were really worth in the open market...

"Ballistic" refers to the Kevlar Ballistic Bag pallets that business strike coins are deposited into by the coin press.
