I put this rascal in Lay-A-Way last night and was wanting to see if anyone could assist in attributing this DDO since my Cherrypicker guides have not arrived yet. This one is presently residing in a NGC slab, unattributed. Thank you for your interest! (sellers images) Edited by oih82w8 09/11/2013 1:54 pm

There are a number of DDO (5+) 1868. I do see doubling on the lower part of the cross which a number of the varieties have.

I believe you have Quote:Possible PCGS 38350 1868 DDO FS-104 (FS-003.9) Description "The doubling is evident slightly to the south pf the primary image, most noticeably on the annulet, cross. and upper leaves." Not sure if the annulet is the ring below the cross

Quote:Not sure if the annulet is the ring below the cross I had to look that one up; annulet [ˈænjʊlet] n 1. (Fine Arts & Visual Arts / Architecture) Architect a moulding in the form of a ring, as at the top of a column adjoining the capital 2. (History / Heraldry) Heraldry a ring-shaped device on a shield; hollow roundel 3. a little ring [from Latin ānulus ring + -et]http://www.thefreedictionary.com/annulet

There are a lot of doubled dies in the Shield nickel series including many not in the cherry pickers.

I am about to bring this one home so I thought that I would give it a The only other thing that I have been able to determine is that it is a Reverse of 1867. I have seen some varieties that were identified as a generic RPD without the F.S. Numbers. Do you think that would fall into that grouping of "generic" DDO variety? I received my Cherrypicker guides, but they were both Edition IV's, and no help in identifying this coin.

Could I bother someone to go to; http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?hdnJu...8536&x=0&y=0and show/upload the image of this 1868 5C DDO FS-104 (FS-003.9)? My internet filter at work will not allow the Heritage website, you know...auctions. My cell almost shows the vertical lines crossing into the horizontal on the shield (third post, second image above)

AWESOME! Yes, that is the one (19344119)! I am trying to compare the OP coin to an actual attributed FS-104. Thanks CK! How did you find it? I really think that this is a match. I should have it in hand any day now. I would like to hear/read others opinions, anybody else?
