Here is another 5 cent silver acquired in the 80's.

Had to show the right side and then the left of the REV because the 2 sheets of plastic were not co-operating for focusing purposes..

I'm hoping that my digital micro (soon) will still capture the beauty of these little coins.

WOW, what a beauty! I'm guestimating an MS-63 with a re-punched 9? Though coin to find in MS grade and highly inderrated. I'm shocked that trends aren't higher on this dat, I've had my AU-58 for the past 15 years and finding it near impossible to upgrade. The one you have here is a strong strike and has gorgeous toning!

Thanks Glenn... I did not know that about the strike ....and I will post a proper pic soon of the 9 which you feel is re-punched.

ICCS'd a long time ago at 62. Greatly appreciate any info such as what Glenn has just added.

Seriously..? You've spent 15+ years trying to up-grade from an ICCS 58.. and haven't been able to...Yikes..!!

I had the opportunity to see 1 1889 and I bought it. Never had the opportunity to compare it to any other 89 then or since.

Where are are any of the 1889 gems hiding?

Come on 5 cent silver collectors ...post any 89 5 cent pieces here...!!

Glen, I completely agree with you on there not being many high grade 1889's out there, due to budgetary issues, I generally buy coins for my collection raw, and I've only come across a couple 1889's that were solid XF's or better raw... I also think the 1887 is another deceptively difficult 5 cent to pick up in higher grades...
