Why doesn't the government do more to go after fraud over the internet? They leave evidence of their crime right there on the web. It would be like shoot fish in a barrel. I bet if I spent a few minutes searching I could find some examples of provable, deliberate fraud on ebay right now. Hell, it's a Federal offense.

It all comes down to time, money & politics. There isn't enough time or money for the government to pursue every crime, so the smaller crimes are ignored unless a politician thinks they can get some good press.

Unfortunalely, you couldn't be more wrong. It's extremely difficult. Scammers at the very least, usually use public computers. The more sophisicated ones hack into other computers silently and run through them like a proxy, effectively blocking themselves from the rest of the world.

ebay scammers are mostly from out of the country which makes it almost impossible.

Shooting fish in a barrel? More like peeing on a forest fire.

They are more focused on serious crimes such as catching online predators...which they are doing very well at too.

And of course they are spending a LOT of time busting people for stupid stuff they post on Myspace
