Poll Question
I am ready to start a new series in world coin silver bullion. I wanted to see every one else's opinion is when it comes to this subject. If you can include a why with your vote that would be awesome. I appreciate your input. I really enjoy animal subject coins and world coins so while I do respect the ASE and Maple lines, I a few but really lost interest in them (sorry do not mean to offend anyone). Here are my choices.

Taku--unchanging design, OK artwork, costly gilded version comes in silly water-filled packaging that's destined to spring a leak some year or other and thereby lose collectibility value. Koala--design changes annually, quality of artwork just not the quality aesthetics of the Kook series. Different sizes. Kook--The Rolls Royce of Perth Mint silver bullion coins. Design changes annually, high-end aesthetics, different sizes, etc,etc,etc... IMO---the Kook is the hands-down winner out of these 3. Plus--it's been around a lot longer than the other two, so you've got a far more substantive series to collect. Just make sure that you get them in the original mint capsules. There is also another option you didn't ask about -- the RAM Kangaroos. The carded Roos are (again-IMO) the Rolls Royce of all Aussie silver bullion coins. Some of the years are very expensive, but doing that series is a REAL silver bullion collector's effort. A bit less expensive if you go w/ uncarded coins. Happy hunting.

If you are buying bullion coins strictly for the bullion value, it does not really matter from where they come, as long as the premium is lowest.
If you are buying bullion coins to build and interesting collection with a little numismatic interest, what you buy depends on what you consider to be good artistic merit. That is why I bought a St. Gaudens double eagle.
Same applies to bullion silver coins.

I truly appreciate your input Freddy. How can I be certain that they are in the original mint capsules? My LCS does not stock Perth Mint. I am thinking that I may have to do most of my shopping on ebay and other online bullion sites.

Is it necessary to buy Proof coins to maintain a high premium or could I buy just the BU coins and keep them in an airtite? I know, of course, that the proof coins hold a higher premium but what I was inquiring about is the increase, if any, over time.

I would also agree that the drawback to the Fiji turtle is that the turtle is always the same design.

I actually really do like the Roo series, I think at this time they are a little out of my financial reach.

Koala fan only because it's where I started. I was hooked after finding the 2007 and 2008 versions. Oddly, it wasn't even the animal that I thought was the cool part...it was the background of these coins. Very unique. Can't wait for the 2014's.

Koalas are my favourite because I personally prefer them as animals to birds.

I voted for the Australian Koala.
Why?
Well if I am going to be collecting in this environment, with PM prices that are broken, I first want to add to my collection coins that are showing strength in price or are receiving right now higher premiums. My reason is-
1- I like collecting coins but they should also accrue value in my eyes in case (heaven forbid) I do need to sell them
2- I want to go with what the coin market wants at this moment, with again, PM prices that are broken. The other coins will also come down in price but probably even lower, therefore allowing me to pick them up much cheaper.
so thats how I would pick the Koala.

My choice (from the 3 in the pool) is Koala
As animal - unusual Annually changing design Proof-like quality (not early years) The series good to start - the first is only in 2007 (already accumulated nice premium, but affordable) Like other "good quality" bullion comes in capsules, what I believe is good, since you don't want that your collectible item will be touched by raw hands...
Additional option that not here (like the Roo) is NZ Kiwi Very nice designs, good quality. But they initially can't be compared to the pure bullion editions, since the issue price is high.

I believe that 2013 mintage numbers are Koala = 500,000 Kookaburra = 500,000 Turtles = 350,000
