The technical term for a bowl-shaped coin, such as those issued by the Byzantine Empire, is "scyphate". Do a forum search for "scyphate" and you'll find numerous examples that have been posted here.

If I ever get into Ancients (maybe someday) it will be to collect coins from the Byzantine era. I had a good friend that passed away some time ago, that was a huge collector of them, he gave me a book on them and I found his ANA Seminar evening discussions on them fascinating. Christopher Connell if anyone knows of him, he was a very passionate collector of Byzantine coins. R.I.P. my friend.

Scyphate coins are irritatingly inconvenient!
They are awkward to store in a 2x2.
They also wear on the convex side.
