The local coin store has an NGC slabbed 1885 CC Morgan graded as MS-62 it looks really nice and he wants $640 for it. Certainly lower than anything I've seen on ebay. What do you guys think good deal?

Assuming the coin is an accurately graded 62 and you find it attractive, that is a good price. This date wholesales for $600 and retails for $700. Recent auction results confirm those numbers as reasonable so yes, $640 is fair.

Saw a 1885 cc in a GSA , NGC MS63 go at auction last week for $650.00 . With BP it was $715 which you have to take buyers premium into account for final price at auctions.
So I would say $640.00 is about right.

Judging solely from Heritage Auction results, $640 is towards the high end of "OK" for that coin, but I'd consider it fairly due to the favorable intangibles of dealing with real humans at a brick-and-mortar store. If you like it at the MS62 grade, go for it, with the understanding that you should be able to find 63's at about $700. The jump isn't that great.
Rest in Peace

I agree with BH1964. The eye appeal has to be there on an MS62 to drop that kind of money.

I'd hold out for a solid MS-63 or 64, preferably in a GSA slab. You will be happier with it in the long run.

When it's in a GSA slab, you know its pedigree.
