Do you ever put quarters in the 2x2 cardboard holders that were meant for small dollars? I find the holders for quarters are a bit snug. Plus using a slightly bigger holder gives a nice view of the reeded edge.

I put quarters inside half dollars sometimes. I like the better view it gives.

I've done similar things (like dimes in cent holders,) just because it reduces my inventory of holders on hand.

I generally go for holders that are 1-2mm larger than the diameter of the coin. I think that's what you're supposed to do actually.

Small enough to hold the coin tightly, but large enough to see the detail around the edges.

I also put dimes in holders meant for cents. Glad to see I am not the only one who does this!

I used to buy the correct holder size for coins such as cent holders, nickel holders, etc... now I generally buy quarter holders, half holders, and dollar holders. I have found that most coins fit nicely into one of those. They also allow for the edge to be seen.

At one coin show I go to a few dealers sell 2x2 flips and they are labled Cent/Dimes, Nickel/Quarters, Half/Dollars. One dealer puts everything in the larger Dollar size regardless of the coin. No laws about what to do with a 2x2.

I have always done this. Dimes in cent holders, cents in nickel holders, and so on.

Always a size or two up is what I do as well. just don't put a dime in a large dollar or it might slide around and that could be annoying.

1. You get to see the rim
2. You only need a few types of holders
3. They are easier to get in there

Just don't put a dime in a large dollar flip or it might slide around and that could be annoying.
