Another find from the Grandparents house. No idea what they are worth, condition is ok. The fractional piece in its current condition is barely worth face, but think of the stories it could tell about its lifetime. Can't think that the rest are worth a lot, but they are nice family collection

Wow awesome collection and even cooler to know it came from your family!! That 1923 $5 porthole is a dreamnote of mine, super beautiful and worth a pretty good amount.

Ummm...wow Up until now it had a home in an old cigar box laid out nice and flat. I never much researched them. After this response, I looked a bit on ebay completed listings. Imagine my surprise. Makes it pretty near priceless right about now. (Family value factored in) I may actually consider having this one sent out for grading and or certification. (And that handy dandy holder they put them in)

So?... You think it'worth sending out for grading, or at least certification?

If it were me I would definetly send the porthole out to get graded because now when your future generations get it they will easily be able to know that it has value not like when you got it and didn't think it was worth anything. It would make it easier to sell if that had to come up and it protects it.

Very nice collection. I don't see many people having $5 notes like that.
What is the value of the $5 note?

with Voshus007. I had a couple of coins slabbed just for that reason and they were not nearly as valuable -- but had family/sentimental value.
