How Far Back Can We Go? Second Edition! Ended At 1492 Waiting On 1491

We have now entered the World War I era.

Here's my 1918 Great Britain 1 Shilling:

I was trying to mess with the image optimizer to show the tone of this one, it's a bit blown out... and don't even suggest photo-shop or any other image software, I'm hopeless on them, but I think the tone is almost right. It's definitely a beautiful piece of copper.

These are going to be with us until we're into the 1890's:
2 french francs 1918, 10 gr of 0.835 silver. Both Britain, France and the German and Austrian foe cranked up mintages during WW-I, until their respective mints ran out of silver, and/or inflation caused silver coins to be hoarded.

We won't see many of these any longer: the holed 25 centimes in copper nickel was first issued in 1917. (Coins from the pure nickel trial series in 1913-17 are less common)
