So who else likes this design?
I think it really harkens back to when coins had style.

I'd rather see the reverse blank than that silly thing. Completely lacks imagination, thought or anything. Soon as I saw one first thing I thought of was they just ran out of ideas.

If they had done the wreath around it I would have liked it. Without it it kind of looks like they just picked the easiest thing to do.

Not a fan of it either. I would've liked something similar to the 09 issues to be a more permanent thing. (In regards to more thought and work put into them)

I like it. It's a nice change from the Lincoln Memorial. They could have made the design a bit more intricate and artful though. I too think it harkens back to the older designs that didn't feature a building or some goofy scene (like the 2009 cents or State Quarters).

I like the shield design, but it would look better struck in real copper.

I like it

I agree that it could have been a more intricate design, but it still is a classic design that I think will look even better with the the patina of 25 years or so. The memorial was fine, but it was time for a change. Plus now the kids have another coin that is new and unique to their lifetime to start album collecting.

I'm not sure having an intricate design would have been that good for such a small coin.

I'm perfectly fine with the new design. I like it better than the Memorial cent; not sure if it's any better, just maybe the 'freshness' effect.
As mentioned earlier, it will be interesting to see how they hold up and tone after several years.
