Could you please help me to grade this 1889-CC Morgan dollar? What could be the value of this coin? And do you think that the value of this coin will increase in the next years? I know that maybe this is the rarest CC morgan and I saw NGC price guide for this coin at G grade is 540$. Hmm I think it'd make VG-8 because of how loose low-grade Morgan standards have gotten lately.

Looks like the genuine article, matches diagnostics for an early VAM-5. I don't like the abrupt end to the "crud" best seen around the olive leaves and "In God we trust" on the reverse - makes me think it was cleaned at some point in the past. That said, it's probably something a TPG would look kindly on with this coin. G-6, worth a little less than $500 in a non-Details TPG slab. A worthy long-term investment, but it must be slabbed for resale or you will get very little from it. |

 with SsuperDdave above, except if I was buying as an investment for future selling only in this coin date/MM combination, I would certainly look for a better coin already certified. If you can't afford one yet, then save up for awhile then. While rare, these aren't exactly uncommon in lower grades. "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Thanks to all for comments. I guess I was lucky that I bought this coin just for 138€ (186$) but I really dont like to buy coins in these conditions. So I didn't buy this coin for investment but just because I thought it was a good deal. I'd like to slab some of my coins but I don't know how to do this from Italy. I know that PCGS has an office in Paris so I will get more info to grade my coins.. Vincenzo, looks like you have some nice US coins. I think you would be correct in that it would be best to go through the PCGS Paris office. If possible, it would also be best if you could hand deliver them rather than trust the mail. |

Thats why I haven't already graded some of my coins....i really dotnt trust too much in italian mail services and it would be too expensive to go in Paris to hand deliver. I would consider this coin to have a value which would justify getting it to PCGS for grading/authentication (the latter being most important). Even considering that cost, you've plenty of remaining room for profit, and if the surfaces are deemed "original" you're looking at a auction return approaching US$500.
This one is a solid investment, a low-mintage, high-demand coin, and can be expected to perform in the long term as well as any coin might.
