Does anyone have a good list of the Kennedy Varieties/Errors? I looked around and couldn't find anything. Thanks.

This list is once, but is missing some and has some on it that I personally have not seen many people too interested in collecting (aka you don't see them for sale on ebay) - specifically some of the DDOs. The list I use for roll searching has been amassed from several sources: 71-D: DDO (,amy varieties but only the one with obvious WE TRUST is collected much/sold on ebay), RPM, rotated die 72: DDO - only one listed variety, but I have found 2 other minor types I do not keep. 72-D: RPM, no FG 73-D: No F in FG, DDO74-D: DDO77-D: DDO, no F in FG 82: No FG 83: no FG 84-D: RPM 88-D: Rotated DIe (and I have found one with no trace of an FG) 89: No FG - I have seen a ton of this date and yet to see one with no FG. 89-D: RPM I have also now seen two different 1974-Ds sell on ebay that have had no trace of an FG (the pics were pretty good and there was no trace of an FG) For all of the no FG's (or no F), I only keep ones where there is not trace of the FG under magnification. I have seen a lot on ebay where you can see the FG in their pics. I also noticed on pics of slabbed PCGS and NGC 82 No FGs that the top edge of the G can be seen - so I wonder if I have not been too picky? I have heard talk from both sides whether or not all no FGs are just the result of die polishing.

If you find more varieties to look for, let me know. Oops - one I forgot. I have found 10 of the following so far out of 189 boxes. But also note the picture of the spikes is labeled as a clash - which it is NOT. According to Coop in another thread, he believes it to be polishing marks from where they tried to polish off a clash: 1994 with an extra, raised element under the eagle on the REV and also spikes on JFK's nose. There was a thread about this before and at the end of the thread kit was determined the raised element is not die flow - it is likely a chipped die. https://goccf.com/t/160027

Looks like he has fun with the minor varieties in nice shape. Also must have taken some time to accumulate all of these.

Hi, I ran into this thread attempting to verify the existence of a premium for clashed Kennedy clad halves. I think I remember reading that a clash is a type of error that would not bring any premium on these halves. I could be incorrect and stand to be corrected with verifiable examples. With this information I then subscribed to PCGS' CoinFacts on a 10 day trial basis and began reviewing ALL of the Kennedy halves for the existence of premiums for clashed dies. As expected these types of premiums for Kennedy halves were nonexistent at least in the PCGS database. However, I did run into some extremely interesting financial figures for these Kennedy halves like an MS 67 40% Ag 1969-D half being valued at $ 4500. Even the clad Kennedy halves' PCGS pricing starting in 1971 blew me away with figures from just a few examples as follows: 2003-D, MS-68, $3,000 2007-D, MS-68, $ 1,850 2009-P, MS-68, $ 1,850 2011-P, MS-69, $ 2,350 2013-P, MS-68, $ 1,800 2013-D, MS-68, $ 1,350 and so on and on etc.... IMO these later years and even these higher grades might be available by breaking open flexible plastic-covered mint sets purchased from auctions or even coin shops. I have never attempted to do this but could this just be the 'diamond in the rough' that some folks are looking for...? I do not know if busting open mint sets is considered ethical or not but I just might expand my horizons a bit and examine just a few of the ones that I already own. This PCGS CoinFacts is really incredible in terms of showing current/updated pricing as well as CLOSEUPS of all known varieties for all US coins. It even has a grading section for all US coins where one can place a coin up next to the computer screen to obtain a very accurate match on the grade of which a coin should be assigned. Any comments on what I just personally discovered here in my commentary of this thread are welcomed; and constructive criticism is encouraged as well. fyi, mdpmedia

Quote: Does anyone have a good list of the Kennedy Varieties/Errors? I looked around and couldn't find anything. Thanks. These sets are not really lists but it is what it is: The first set we started when upgrades to our basic set started to be difficult to locate (it became boring waiting for the new year coins to be issued). http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/sho...aspx?sc=1165A few years ago, it started to be harder and harder to find varieties to the Kennedy series that we still needed so we turned to the error side of the series, below is a set with the errors graded by PCGS (we still have about 20 raw coins to be submitted and a little over fifty coins graded by NGC): http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/sho...aspx?sc=2045
