Some of you may remember my posting scans of my Morgan dollar Sets back in the summer, and, if you do, you'll probably remember I still needed an 1893-S to complete the third set. Happy to say I finally got my fat little fingers on one.....pretty stoked about it. The coin is a mite shy on looks, and its been used and abused over the years, but, still, its THE key date in the series, and I'm thrilled to have another one.

Not sure what happened, but the scans didn't show up in the original post.....trying it again.

Thanks guys. Yes! Three full sets of business strike Morgans (date and mint mark).....no 1895(P) though.....its a proof only coin, and much too expensive for me to even dream of having one. So, what it amounts to is, I have ninety five coins housed in Dansco Albums, plus I have the 1878/8TF, 1878/7over8TF, 1878/3rdReverse, and 1879S/2ndReverse.....not sure just why I included those four in the first set, but, since I did, I followed up with them in the two succeeding sets as well. If interested in seeing scans of the sets, you can ease back into the posted messages for August, or, if you prefer, I have all of them posted in the members photo gallery (Ralph), and, yes, I do like those amazing Morgan dollars!

WOW - congrats, many don't even complete a full set in a lifetime, and you've done 3? Amazing accomplishment!

surface damage looks pretty minimal - wonder if you got a deal on it.

robbudo - It set me back $1,650.00. Seems like a lot to pay for one coin, but, as the key to the series of business strike Morgans, it is highly desirable in any grade, and I have been saving up for it for quite awhile. To be truthful, its the cheapest one I've found on the market for quite some time.....all the others I've looked at, over the past several months, are running upwards of two thousand, and, while I love this hobby, I'm not trying to spend any more on it than I absolutely have to. So yes, I think I got a good deal on it.

Thanks Dave - its taken the better part of nine years to get here, but, given the fondness I have for those Morgan dollars, its been well worth the ride. I'm working on a fourth set.....only have 21 towards completion though.....someday!

I have two Morgan date sets underway, one BU and one circulated. While I am using different mints for each with no overlap, I have to say the thought of doing a complete set was too daunting to consider doing once, let alone three times! Ralph, your accomplishment is commendable to say the least! Congrats!
