Greetings all.

One of my passions in life other than collecting coins and bills is history and my genealogy. Recently, I was lucky enough to trace my ancestry back to the 1700s. So naturally I wanted to commemorate my ancestry into a little coin collection.

My question for someone much smarter than myself is, is there a company that will make a case/set holder such as the one pictured but allow the buyer to completely customize the size and font/wording? I am purchasing half dollar/dollars of the year my paternal grandfathers were born.

My collection includes/will include:
1983 Olympic Silver Dollar
1957 Franklin half dollar
1933 Liberty Walking half dollar
1894 Barber half dollar
1857 Seated Liberty half dollar
1830 Bust Half Dollar
1799 Draped Bust Dollar (replica)
1775 George III Farthing
1739 George II Half Penny

If interested, the reason I go back to 1739 is because that is the year my ancestor was born who served in the Revolutionary War.

I would like to place those halves in a nice holder with the name of my grandfather underneath and their birth year, and year of death.

Looking-For-A-Customized-Set-Holder

Hopefully it makes sense what I am asking, sometimes I have a hard time getting ideas out.

I would imagine any cabinetmaker or good carpenter could make one out of wood - just make sure he/she understands to use appropriate non-sappy wood - old mahogany is ideal.

Some printers will do them out of card. They really want to sell you 1000 but many will do 1, if you're willing to pay their overhead.

Alternatively you could draw circles on thick card yourself, insert the coins, and put the whole in a cheap frame from a nickel and dime store.

Two choices... /1/ Any decent plastics manufacturing company can cut holes - 3 layers (lookup Capitol Plastics for examples).

/2/ You can do one off laser cutting - you can even have them engrave legends... your local "Maker" space can help

Capitol plastics would be good, though I don't know if they do personalized requests.
I love their holders though.

For a grouping of this importance, I strongly urge you to contact CCF member "nickelsearcher" for the solution. His skill does not come cheaply, but neither do your memories, and you will not be disappointed.

Any small machine shop will drill the holes you need in the center sheet of plastic and the needed screw fastener homes in all three sheets of plastic and you can make a nice "capitol Plastic" type holder for your coins.

OK, found it.. http://www.ponoko.com/laser-cutting will laser cut acrylic for you from simple to create design files.

Basically you would create a template with four screw holes. Two of those would be your top layer and bottom layer. Then clone it and add holes (precisely dimensioned for your coins) to make the middle layer. Pick the thickness of the middle layer based on the coin thickness.

The basic sheet cost for 7x7 is US$2 - $8, plus cutting time and s/h
