Well, my wife, VACookey (who really doesn't post anymore) absolutely LOVES Mercury dimes. She calls herself the crazy dime lady. She has searched more dimes than anything else. She has found plenty of Mercs, but obviously not the 16D. Though before he died, my dad told her she should just look in her purse. LOL So, her first thing in the hobby was to complete a Merc set. Which she has done with the exception of the 42/1 and the 16D. She then fell in love with Franklins and bust halves, but thats a different subject. So that has sat with those two holes for a while now. The 42/1 would be nice, but neither of us considers that a necessity for a "complete" set. Now, her birthday last year sucked. It is on Nov 30, and we were moving and working on getting my dying father out of V.A. Needless to say, NOT a great birthday for her. So I decided then that I was going to set aside money from anything and everything I sold. A bit here, a bit there. I did not count it, just shoved it in an envelope and that was it. I ended up saving more than enough to get her her 16D. After posting here on the off chance someone had an AG for sale, I went eBaying. I finally found this little lady for a reasnable price. And I think she is one heck of a good looking AG. I got it in hand today. My being me, I could not wait once I checked it. I gave it to her like 5 minutes after I opened the package. LOL She loves it. Next few days I will get pics of the completed album.

Nice story and that is a strong AG3, especially the obverse. Thanks for sharing.

Great idea! Mercury dimes are one of those coins that still look good worn. Nice Key to the Series!

I bet she remembers why she married you now. You're right, that's an excellent AG3, reverse-limited. Great example, well-bought.

Nice present. Is that a rotated reverse too? Is she going to break it out and put it in an Album?
