Not sure if its fake but I Agree it's EF, I see obvious wear on the high points and a lot above the ear.

Even though it is missing "eye appeal", I don't notice any wear at first, now I do.

there are gouges and markings everywhere, even with a tooth pick you'd be lucky if you could touch this coin without hitting one. I'm going to point out the breast, not the breast feathers lol, cause there are none, but there are 2 large, deep gouges, vertical and horizontal, major scratches above motto on reverse and obverse 2 more scratches around dollar. Chatter and chips/dings everywhere. Th scratches even look rounded from the excessive wear on the cheek New Orleans mint is known for weak strikes but this is above and beyond

Could you post a picture of the AU-58 that's better than this. To me it looks uncirculated. XF really? Here's a better look:

Its not the prettiest morgan but I dont think its XF. I see a morgan struck with a worn die, lots of die polish lines, and some breaks in luster. I dont see any gouges. Looks uncirculated to me.

Quote: This is a worn out die hence the almost no stars but look at the ear and breast feathers. Night and day! Unfortunately that listing is so old you can't enlarge the pictures for a good comparison. The fields on both the obverse and reverse are much more worn in the July listing you just posted. Compare that to the first one which has no circulation wear which would make it grade higher than an AU.

You guys are crazy and/or don't understand weak strikes. It's MS, I'd grade it 63.
Flatness does not equal wear.

I would have to agree that the detail is to sharp in other areas to be from wear. Id expect to see the wreath on the head and the neck of the eagle worn at the very least if everyone was just grabbing the middle for some reason.

Luster in the fields is not significantly impaired and the flat spot over the ear is clearly strike-related. You can see the vertical "roller marks" in this spot which were present on the original surface of the planchet.
I think the coin qualifies as uncirculated, but with the many small scuffs and apparent marginal eye appeal it may be overgraded at MS-64.

I can't see where you see wear. MS63 for me.
That said, I won't pay MS63/4 money, since I want to see the details, and it doesn't matter if they're missing from wear or weak strike.

Jaobler nailed it. It's over graded but definitely uncirculated.

Definitely looks like a 63 to me, a typical, weak New Orleans strike without the best eye appeal is what I'm seeing, no wear...

I don't agree with the grade! MS-63.
