I have been looking for a decent example of one of these at a good price. This one cost more than my usual outlay for large cents. Paid $60 for it. Looks high VF to maybe low XF to me. What do you think? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1855-knob-o...047675.l2557

I could see XF40 for it, and nicely bought at the price.

VF35. Really nice, good surfaces, even wear, very few hits...I like it!

Nice coin! Appears to be original surfaces.

That is a nice VF35. I would buy that one every time at that price!

thanks for all the grading opinions and nice comments! After looking at some slabbed XF40 coins I think it just might make XF. Huge price difference between VF and XF on Numismedia.

Not so much in the real world though.... Numismedia retail for VF35 is $144, XF40 is $192.

If you look at Heritage archives the last PCGS VF35 sold for $141 and PCGS XF40 for $161.

Depends on your intent for it. If you're liquidating, it's probably worthy of slabbing. If you're holding, no reason to bother.
