I call this a rescue.. they only get sent off to be destroyed otherwise.. so kudos to you!
Very nice note! I probably would be elated for a good 8 hrs with a find like this!

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm still basking in the afterglow. It would have been a crime for such a note to be destroyed. Other details I have are as follows: It is a Lawson Bouey, Serial # BJ9900394, can't tell if it is a devil's face or not.

can tell if Devil's F when look up sig'n & prefix in catalogue......worth more if it is........I say EF ...........I say yu lucky dog.......At my local bank twice they had some hundreds (Nov),,once was only 2 and I picked the bird rather than 1970's,, other time say 12 notes 2 were 1970's rest Bird series,, this time when with older note. I can't believe your luck of a 1954.....good for yu........ Not devil for sure,,,no...

I'm pretty sure the signatures of Lawson and Bouey are only on the banknote without devils face.

Devil's face or no, I am happy to have it and it will take a place of honour in my small collection of banknotes. Can't lose when you get it for face value. A good reason to have a good relationship with the local tellers.
