I say yes it is. Reading my Charlton and they mention the debate on the Ottawa Mint sovereigns. I bought one a while back to have a "C" mint coin for the Canadian gold collection.

I too say yes. They were struck here and had legal tender status in this country until quite recently.
Do they belong in a Canadian type set? No.

I agree with what DBM says. They are Canadian coins but I wouldn't put it in a Canadian Set.

Agreed they are Canadian coins. Very nice choice if you can afford them.

Canadian coins but I wouldn't put them in a Canadian set because they were not minted for Canadian circulation.

No they are British gold sovereigns struck at a branch mint. That they had legal tender status under the banking act holds about the same amount of water that US gold eagles and double eagles had the same status. Few would question that they are NOT Canadian coins.

Yes they are. I have always wanted to make a c sovereign set along with the $10 and $5 gold pieces from 1912-14.

If you Google search "Canada's first Gold Coin" there is no mention of the Sovereign.
