This was in a customer deposit today. I wasn't quite sure at first if it was real, but I compared it to my own 2013 ASE's when I got home from work, and it seems to be ok. Its weight is 31.56g (my two 2013's, which were both purchased from the a LCS, are 31.28 and 31.36g respectively). It also sounds the same as my ASEs when I drop it on a hard surface. What do ya think? All pics are of the same coin.

Looks fine to me. The details are too strong to be a fake. Nice find and to CCF by the way

Why did you question the authenticity of the coin? Something bother you about the ASE?

Wait, so you swapped this out of a customer deposit for a $1? That is a pretty sweet deal if that's what happened. The interesting thing is that it has been in circulation. Surprised someone took it as 'real' money.

Quote: Why did you question the authenticity of the coin? Something bother you about the ASE There was nothing in particular that caused me to question it, however I also have read about all the fakes of these things floating around, so I was just wondering if there was anything I should be looking for with it. The four ASE's that I already had were all purchased at the same coin shop, which is very reputable in this area, and I'm a relative novice when it comes to silver eagles. Quote: That is a pretty sweet deal if that's what happened Yup! Best $1 I ever spent!

If it is too good to be true, it really IS too good to be true. I understand why you questioned it: You only paid a dollar for it.
This happens to be an exception to the above rule.

The picture quality is poor, but I don't like the date. It looks to me like the 9's are different styles.

That's a combination of poor picture quality and dirt or tarnish near the rim. A close examination of the date shows that they are the same.
