Okay a few questions here... time to teach the noob in coins I suppose... but what are the indicators that it's a spec. strike...
Also how can you explain the difference in colour all around the details on the reverse side...

Look at the rims compared to other GeoV 50¢ posted here, and the fullness of the strike. In hand the matte finish would be more apparent.

Sorry to have posted this one late....but I don't feel that this one is a "curve ball"..
....come on SPP...I just asked for an ICCS grade.....are there rules to this that say .."NO PL's or SP's allowed here"
The pros have spoken and they have better eyes than I do.. and that's why I posted it ...but just a bit late...
Nice to see that no one cheated because this one has been posted before.
It's SP 66...There is no coating on it or the others in the set,..but that center does look like something has touched it a long time ago... .

artdio.....did all of these halves you've posted come from the same source?
I don't want to sound sarcastic but if that reverse scratch is just a 'hairline' then I'm the Queen of England.

Double,.. first off no they come from many different sources...And the hairline remark , was more of a way to say it is no way as bad as what the pics show...If your looking straight on it is much less noticable....The pic was taken on a slight angle...

artdio...
I understand what you're saying about pictures sometimes showing diiferent things depending on different camera angles.
Needless to say, in all my 40 years of coin experience, I have never called what your coin exhibits on the reverse as a 'hairline'.
Rather a 'scratch' would be in order or if you want to stretch the truth a little, then a 'very light scratch' would possibly be acceptable.
We mustn't fall into the trap of overgrading our own merchandise.

@ double... maybe a light scratch would have been more appropriate, but in the end it wont change the value ...As for over grading our own stuff sorry ICCS put that grade and I agree.. In hand it is nicer.... @ Laureat... still a great hole filler

@DEVLEC... Really nice 1911 half. Never would have guessed sp-66, the toning makes it impossible to grade. Regardless of whether I can grade or not still a very spectacular specimen.
