Cracked out of an ICG slab. I tried to capture some of the luster, but didn't do too well...What did ICG grade it?

Nice one John! I'd say AU58. It looks like some strike weakness too and that die is getting close to done.

I think AU53 due to the weaker strike, there is enough for an AU55 or AU58 grade but I think the weak strike will hold it back somewhat.

Thanks for the opinions. This is a tough coin to grade within this range, because this year is lackluster, and strike quality is often poor. I would call mine an average strike, and agree that the reverse die is somewhat later state, especially evident in the denticles.

ICG graded my coin MS-62 which I think is dead on in comparison to other graded examples. This year doesn't seem to have strong luster until you get to MS-64+ type grades. Here are all of the current PCGS/NGC AU-58s available on ebay, which I believe mine has stronger detail and luster.....

The coin is nice but one that I would never pay MS money for.

My first thought was AU58. Even though its a mushy strike I'm seeing signs of some circulation on the cheek and ribbon. A possible light cleaning. I also would not pay 62 money

tough crowd. Honestly, I would have guessed it AU-55 to 58 too had I not I not looked extensively at certified AU and low end MS 1859 examples. This year just does not have that full lustrous MS look until you get to high end MS-63 and 64 examples; which gets close to the 4 figure dollar mark. Gem examples are extremely rare.
