I am really not sure what to think of this coin. The reverse looks like the reverse of a Draped Bust quarter and it is the size of a quarter but this coin is clearly not silver. The obverse is also very different from the Draped Bust especially in the cleavage area as well as in the placement of the word liberty. So if any of you can identify this it would be greatly appreciated. Also as a side note the white-ish stuff on the reverse is from some tape the was on the back when I found it if anyone has any idea on a safe way of getting things like that off I would love to know because it is on many of my coins. p.s. Sorry for the bad quality photos it's the best I could do with what I have.

I found it in my book of Half Cents I had gotten from my grandfather and it was too big to fit in the holes (hence the tape that was on the back). I took it out because it didn't look like any of the others and started searching the web for anything that even resembled it. I can't figure it out, but CCF hasn't let me down on identifying a coin.

Looks to be some sort of replica or if you're lucky a contemporary counterfeit.

It is a fantasy or replica piece of an 1803 $10.00 gold eagle, I suspect that this coin was once gold colored or plated.

This appears to be a replica/fantasy piece of an 1803 Gold Eagle ($10). The obverse appears similar and you can see the clouds, tail feathers and some of the outer lettering on the reverse seem to match your coin's reverse. Here's one on ebay now:

Very likely a Kettle token; a 19th century brass or gilt copper gaming counter made by Kettle and Sons of Birmingham UK. http://uspatterns.com/kettletokens.htmlCan you make out the name "Kettle" to the right of the date?
