Purchased raw for $73. Lots of luster on this one, albeit muted. Grades?

Old coin VF-25

I like the die cracks by TY on the obverse of the new coin.

Agree with NLP - AU and VF - damage on the reverse though.

Thanks for the grades all!!

Moe- I can always count on you to crash my dreams with your SLQ grades.... jk. Nah, I appreciate a tough grading, and to your credit....the seller actually graded my new 17-d as a VF too!

I clearly paid VF money for it as well....though I tend to agree with a low end AU grade, though I could see an XF-45 from the pics. The fields are covered with luster, though my pics as usual don't really bring it out. This purchase was an extremely pleasant surprise from the sellers less than adequate pictures.

I agree that the old one looks VF20, though the really bold date may bring it up to a 25 or so.
Rest in Peace

HAHA. You crack me up Moe! I don't really know why it worked out this way, other than the fact that the seller of the high grade 17-d had really small pictures, so folks may have been less confident in bidding......but its probably mostly due to just blind luck.
