I just received this 1800/79 in a PCGS holder. It's an S-192 variety and R4+ according to my Sheldon book. I'd appreciate your thoughts on grade and any comments. I'll post the grade in a couple of days.

PCGS Details holder. I'll say XF40- I like it!

Nice! It does look a bit porous in the huge pictures, but probably hardly noticeable in hand. I'd grade it high end XF-45 details. It very could reside in a PCGS XF detail slab, but I'd crack it out if it did. :-)

I'm going to go for the XF-40 grade on this one. The porosity is just minor enough that it might come back with no "details" designation. There's a little leeway provided to these earlier coppers.

For draped bust cents in this grade level, I look at the back of the hair, flatness in the face, shoulder and breast. It's grade it conservatively due to the environmental damage and say XF-40 details.

That is a very appealing S-192 which I would grade as VF35 to XF40.

Interestingly, the latest (20th ) edition of CQR rates S-192 as R-3. Regardless, this is a very nice coin, with only minimally uneven surfaces.
Congratulations.

Shes beautiful...a little weak on the strike especially the reverse which some folks may think is wear. Solid EF40. Don't think it got the detail grade. Nice addition

Thanks for all the responses and opinions. It was PCGS XF Details but as always I break my coins out of the holders. In hand it doesn't look like a details coin.
