Very Nice Coin. It's hard to tell if there is any wear, with these pictures.

WOW! That is gorgeous!! (Man, it almost looks too good to be real!)
VERY minor hits on the jaw/lower face but overall I would grade this beauty MS-65 (maybe proof?).
Spectacular!

Quote: I would grade this beauty MS-65 That's what I was thinking as well. Quite a price gap between 64 and 65 though. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 64, if it was sent in for grading.

The surfaces on this piece are very well preserved and certainly look gem mint state. There is slight obverse strike weakness evident but not enough to drop it to 64 IMO. Are there any rim issues apparent? The pics might be hiding a problem and it would be a crying shame if this coin had filed rims. I would like to see the rims and sharper images but based on what I see MS65 seems like the probable grade. Top tier TPG MS65 examples of this date bring well over $2,000 at auction so it's clearly a piece worth professional certification.

I was at MS64 on first glance, but it might even be MS65, which could add a lot of $$$ The rims do look suspicious of being worked on.

Amazingly clean coin. That scares me. When I first saw it I thought "Photoshop".

I also thought the rims looked off, I am nervous they are filed, I asked the seller for pictures of the edge of the coin. I also was thinking MS 65.

I was looking at other half eagles from the same era and I found that on many the reeded edge is quite pronounced. Here is an example on ebay graded MS 65 with a rim that is like the one. Also it matches with this coin where it is more prevalent on the reverse. I still would like to see pictures of the edge, but this makes me feel better about the way the rims on this coin look, especially since the picture was taken at an angle. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1904-Libert...047675.l2557

The rims are probably okay. My comments were based on what can be seen in the pics and that's not much. This piece is well worth buying if the price is right but be sure you have a return privilege.

I am loathe to offer optimistic words about a raw gold coin, especially one so seemingly-nice as this one. It's a $2000+ coin in PCGS 65, 66 being Top Pop. Trouble is, the pics are just blurry enough to mask a nice AU58 or excessive chatter....
As BH1964 said, ensure you've got effective return rights if you go for it.
