I have posted ads on different coin websites selling my 18000 1950s wheats and 18000 1940s that has been unsearched for errors and different die varieties. Should I just go on and sell them or should I take the time and search for all the varieties and errors....

Search through this site there are many worthwhile varieties in these decades.

Another approach is break them down into smaller (5000) lots.

I have them in 1000 ct bags so I could sell them in 1000 to 18000 at a time.

I would search them all before you sell them. 1946 S over D is a good one to look for. There are many more varieties to search for though.

First thing is to look to see what could be in there. Then search through them. Check out coppercoins.com to see what could be in there.

Here is their search engine to see what could be there in the year/mint/variety there maybe in the years you have. A good glass or microscope will help you see what there is there. You might sort them into 10 bowls. by the last digit. Then sort the individual decade then then you can search coppercoins to see what has been found on the year/mint mark. It takes time to develop the eye, but you might be passing on a great coin for a common wheat price. Asking questions here is also a great start.

I would start with a 10x loupe or a magnifying glass. A magnifying glass on a stand (not hand held) would be good to not tire you out too much. You could use a microscope to take a closer look at the odd ones you identify with first search method.

That's quite a bit of Wheaties.. Honestly you should go through them as I am sure you could find lots of good varieties/errors.. If you decide to sell them off in lots I would definetly be interested in taking a lot off your hands.. Good luck searching and let us know what you find.
