Well, here we have a slabbed 71-D clad Kennedy in PCGS VG-10. My first question is: Who would bother to slab such a coin (unless they mistakenly thought the heavy wear was some mint error?). Ok, now who would want such a common coin in this condition. They could pick up an UNC for $3.00. Would you believe this coin got 10 bids with a $35 final sell price (+ $6.00 shipping) makes it a $40 coin. I am now collecting all my culls to send off to PCGS. My plan is to sell the slabs on ebay and use the proceeds to buy a beach bungalo on Maui.

Good plan, think I will join you. I have never been a connisuer of "toned" coins but if you want a spectacular display visit the sellers store, starts of with a toned 77 Ike for almost 2 grand. After viewing the spectacular display of toned coins refer back to the seller's name for understanding.

There's a cult of collectors that do backwards registry sets. That's why.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand. What is a backwards registry set?

I'm no expert, but I gather it's sort of like playing "misere" in certain card games, where you try to lose. The worst loser (the one with the lowest grade coins) wins.

Do you think those are AT? (artificially toned) I was looking into some toned coins and one seller just got blasted with a bunch of negatives from a guy who said all the coins he got were AT.

Its not all that unusual to find coins which are toned diffrently on both sides .

I know that none of My toned ASE's are the same on both sides.
