I like it, its got character and much more personality than a blast white ms 60. I'd call it a solid vg but it looks like Georgey boy may want to borrow a tissue. When I read the title and saw the word abused I thought of a cleaned banged up example not a fairly attractive circulated coin. Thank god I was wrong, when I read the title my heart sank for a minute.

Thanks targemco, I mainly work in the field of War Nickel die states like cracks clashes laminations etc... 1951 commem. Nickel die states as with the War Nickels and silver dollars and their die states once again as with the War Nickels so if you ever want to get rid of any you know who to email first;-) . All the best to you as well. Oh I almost forgot, you should check your 1938 for a double 8 and or double HP. and I suggest you purchase a Charlton 2012, its really fun for silver dollar variety hunting. Who knows you might find a hidden jem in your collection. Once again all the best to you.

Yes, I purposely had these 1938's graded so that I could have an example of ICCS's grading from G4 to MS65 in this year....I'm missing a couple of mid grades...it's amazing how a VF 30 will go for the same price as a AU 55 on ebay sometimes.

Hello Dollarman, I am new to your forum and came across it by googling 1938 dollar double hp. I have one in my collection but can not find any information on it. I was hoping you might be able to tell me how rare it might be and an approximate value. It was graded by ICCS as a MS62. Thanks, Robert

@torgemco, instead of abused I'd call it well spent. @jobbie, in my observation DHP does not command much of a premium in other years. Normal 1938 is around 175-200 in MS62.
