I voted untoned #2 So that maybe you would sell the toned one ...cheap. To me I hope I did not mess up you poll ... I do like them both

No worries on the poll, just testing the waters.

I usually wouldn't go with the toned coin but this one is really nice. But then again, the untoned coin is a real keeper. I think there's only one solution, start a second 7070.

Gotta go with the toned one. It brings out the relief and detail better I also like the obverse die crack.

I like the toned one, it is a beauty. Although I can't imagine (at least not so far) selling a coin, I would keep the toned coin. For me, unless I really needed the money for another coin, I would crack the untoned for the 7070 and stash the toned one away.

My personal preference is the toner. If you were working on the series, I would recommend you keep the untoned as it would fit in better with the rest of the coins. But since you are working on the 7070 with only 2 Buffs, I think the toner would be a nice contrast next to a blast white Type II. (Unless you can find a similarly toned one, but I don't imagine there are too many out there.)

Quote:I prefer Buffalo nickels that aren't toned... so... yeah, untoned. Says the member with the beautifully toned five cent avatar. But you did say Buffalo nickels, so it could be an exception.

If I only owned one - and I don't own one - this coin would be it.

Even the untoned one has some nice mellow color to it...but the toner is the keeper hands down.

Toned, but not because it's toned, but because it looks to be in better condition.

I'm confused. I really don't see why you don't keep both. IF you need money that bad, get rid of both. IF not, keep both. If no Album for those, start one. Great coin for a starter.

Untoned for me, I don't like that color of toning. Looks like someone blew cigar smoke on it.
