Anyone know roughly what that sells for with case? A non collector friend inherited one. Although the box has been opened the coins look untouched. I don't think it will be sold but just is curious for the value. I believe it is a half ounce of gold. Is it worth any more than spot price? I can gauge the other coins by catalogues but are they worth more as a set than individually priced?

You should get melt for it....

I was only offered melt for mine when I sold it back a bit when the gold went crazy..In the original mint cardboard box,..holding the black boxes with a fine sheet of clear plastic over the coins to keep air off of them.

I bought them in 67 from the mint at $35 a pop..Who was to know that gold was just about to start it's climb...?

Yeah - I was in grade 9 and worked in a retail store Saturdays for just over a dollar an hour and was happy to have spending money (pop in our school vending machine was 10 cents).

Hey..!! Thanks for bringing me back....I had my students pass for Expo 67 and was making $0.85 cents/hour as a buss/bar boy on the weekends..

The waitresses/ladies of the evening and serving drinks...would pool their tips together (supposedly) at the end ~3:30 AM ,.. and give us buss boys ~$2 each for doing a good table job for them...
Yah...I was rich...
Lot of scrambling for 'a lot of hours' to put together $35.

..But I was still a coin collector and could not pass up this "first for me" Mint offering...at only $35...
