hey guys I received my 1878 CC Morgan dollar in the mail and after the excitement I raised the question if it's fake because it weighs 26.07 grams and I'm pretty sure that's because the silver wore off from it
thanks in advance for the info

I'm still learning how to spot good counterfiets but that looks legit to me. Looks like a well worn coin to me. And the weight is only off by about 3/5 of a gram. Sounds about right for a worn coin.

Your coin is 2.5% under nominal weight and that's well within tolerance for the level of wear shown.

VAM-21. VAM-6 is a Long Nock. No way this is a fake, with that distinctive doubling.

I take that back - couldn't see the Long Nock on my smartphone screen. Definitely makes it VAM-6.

The coin is real as others have stated, but pretty ugly. Not sure what the Long Nocks bring, but I am not sure they bring that much in this grade with the polishing. Nice accidental pick though.

VAM-6 isn't all that uncommon, and so distinctive it doesn't need an expert to attribute. I don't think this example warrants grading.

NOT worth the cost of grading. Hold on to your cash for another coin, or a book on coins like the TOP100 VAM varieties (great starter VAM book, of the Cherrypicker's guides) try ebay or Amazon for used books to save money. Use http://www.vamworld.com for attributing Morgan and Peace dollar varieties. Learn a few key pick up spots on some VAMs that interest you and try and hunt them down by cherrypicking them off ebay or at coin shops and local shows. You'll get more out of your money that way rather than slabbing a coin like you have.
