See the notches to the bottom left of letters in Liberty, this adds to my suspicion.

I also see what appears to be a serif on the left bar of the letter "T"

Its a DDO to the NW/SW which is why the left arm of the Y and bottom right of the R is skinny and the rest is thicker. I see notching on the bottom left of the RTY..there very well maybe notching on the rest but there are no close ups of that. The date could also be affected. Can you get close ups of the other devices? |

Kinda looks like 001 but you'll have to look for markers.

The question I have to ask is: "What is doubled?" I see no evidence of hub doubling. To me it looks like it is Machine Doubling. Possibly happening on the ejection of the coin from the machine Note the devices have a mark, but are not enlarged like hub doubling should do. I've seen this before on coins.  There are several different types of Machine Doubling, but they all fit under the same term as they are caused by the machine doubling/damaging the coins struck from normal dies. Sometimes contact from other coins will dent the devices in certain areas of the devices. Flattening them to make them appear as a doubled die. But when this happens, it also is just damages the device and does not enlarge the devices. The look different, but are the normal with damage. Either way they are worth about the same. I would save it for now until you know more about the coin. I save stuff to see if another theory is found. It only cost me one cent. That way later if it is determined to be something else, I don't have to kick myself for throwing it back. |

I do not recall seeing anything on the date but I will take another look and try to take some better pics.

 I see distinct notching on all parts of the T and parts of the R and the Y? Is this some how cause by ejection? I thought this for sure was a doubled die with the notching and twice the thickness in some spots. Hope you don't mind if I used your image   Edited by Jayman931

The 2012P-1DO-002 has the same marks at 8:00 on the devices. http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mdsYou might want to check to see if any markers match? But ejection doubling usually affects just the tops of the devices. So it maybe something. ADDED: Looking at the images again and noting the marks as the bottom, made me make a side by side. Coop- are you using Adobe Photoshop for your Graphics or Gimp or other? You always make the best use of your years of collecting photos.

Real nice comparison COOP, I really appreciate the effort you folks put into this post for me, many thanks to go around! Unfortunately I was unable to match up any of the die markers on Coppercoins with my coin. I am going to upload a few more close up pics and one will show a die gouge and die chip close to the chin area.

It may not match up with the die state on Coppercoins but there is a clue on Wexler's that seems to confirm your 2012P-1DO-002 designation. WDDO-002 is said to have "Die Markers: Obverse: A small die gouge (dot) can be found above and between the 2 and 0 in the date. Reverse: A small die gouge can be found well south of the N in UNITED. A die scratch runs ESE from the upper L to the you in PLURIBUS." I do not see the last two but we can all see that gouge between the 2 and 0 in the date, in the pictures above.
