SO I happened to find these in a roll. They all seem to be BU, but may have some slight smudges. Since they were not intended for circulation, are they worth holding onto? Or should I just keep one for my collection and spend the other five?

I think that post 2011 was NIFC. I would spend them, or keep one if you really like it.

CoinCollector2012- Actually you may be thinking of Presidential dollars. I'm pretty sure that 2002-2008 Sacs were actually NIFC.

I'd keep one or two of the better ones and circulate the rest.

hcmusicguy- Yeah, I'm going to keep one for my collection since I actually didn't have a 2007P. But I just wonder if they actually have any kind of numismatic value beyond face value.

I doubt it. I've come across a couple, and saved the better one of the two, since I'm trying to put together a year set of Sacs (missing '05 and '08).
An NIFC Sac (or anything else) at face value is way better than paying a premium at the LCS. One of my LCS charges $2 for a current year Sac or Pres, but I paid $5 each for a 2002 and 2012 (both BU) this year.

Look at sold items on ebay and it seems some sellers makes close to a dollar total after ebay fees, and some make up to a dollar if selling a 2007P and 2007D taken from mint sets. Probably not worth your time.

I say it is not worthy your time and space and effort to keep those around. It is massively minted and nobody is interested in those unless it is MS67+

Quote: It is massively minted and nobody is interested in those unless it is MS67+ From 2002-2008 the mintages were so low that they'd be considered "scarce" even if they were Morgan dollars. 2008, with less than 2 million each from Philly and Denver, is one I'd actually advise as a keeper into the future. Yes, they're NIFC, but I can see them as a potential growth issue.

Since SsuperDdave brought up a good point about 2008 Sac dollar, I want to share with those interested in collecting the Native American series (following Sac series): 2013 mintage is currently the lowest for this series (about the same number as 2008). To put into perspective, this year (2014) mintage is already at 2.5+ millions each for P & D mint. BETTER HURRY. Here's the link: http://mintnewsblog.com/2014/01/qui...s-updates-6/
