And you know, we are remiss in mentioning that this is a nice, original-wear coin with good eye appeal for the grade. I would certainly own it as a VF-30.

Nice pick-up . NGC's certificate verification site has it listed as just the 1851 and not as the 1851-O, they did goof all the way around.

Quote: Just curious. If a coin is mis-labeled and you sent it back to get corrected, does it cost anything? Quote: What the PCGS Guarantee Does Not Cover
The following is further explanation of what the PCGS Guarantee does not cover.
Clerical or "mechanical" errors. PCGS occasionally makes clerical errors in inputting data which is shown on the insert in the PCGS holder; consequently the PCGS Guarantee does not cover obvious clerical errors, what we call "mechanical errors." The key concept is how obvious the error is to the naked eye. If you can easily tell just by looking at the coin that the description on the holder is wrong, then the coin/holder combination is not covered by the PCGS Guarantee.

Coin dealers are, and need to be, generalists. That is, knowing a little about all coins. Collectors who specialize in a given series often catch unattributed errors. But to miss an "O" mint mark - THAT'S a new one. A while back, a CCF member was selling a 1905-O dime. It was a "micro o" and not a "normal size O." I know dimes so I bought it. For the asking price. As a normal O. Knowledge is SO essential in this hobby.
Great score, BStrauss3!

Quote: Which club show are you talking about?
The Brown County show in two weeks? That's about 160mi each way for me and I'll have to think about it. But the next Ft Worth CC show in March? I'll definitely be back. Oh, and the hot dog cart's brat was at least a B+ (no deli mustard or I'd have gone A-). Better than the Grapevine show's hamburger (although that's wasn't BAD by any stretch of the imagination). The show I was talking about is the Fort Worth Coin Club show on March 8th/9th (I would probably go on the 8th). I am almost certainly going to be in town and *should* be able to go. I will be sure to try one of the brats!

Thundercoin: Bring a lighted magnifier if you go, however - it's a bit of a problem. The rec center building is basically a gym without the bright overhead lights. Some dealers brought enough lighting, some didn't.
One gentleman (I suspect he's a retired L-M machinist) was selling forged Aluminum c-clamps to clamp the lights to the tables. It was a sweet piece of design, including strain relief / installation cuts at the corners. A couple of the tables had them - works better than trying to catch a hot light as it falls...
I think you'll have a really good time.

Thats only for buy backs of coins that develop problems or were overgraded. They wont pay you for say an arrows or no arrows version when you can clearly see if it has it or not. They almost always still pay for what it is just not the inflated price price the mislabeled variety would have made it

52Raymo, Why should I have told the seller? Not my fault he didn't do his homework.
