Why does it say that it is an 1851 when it is an 1851-O?
I do like it though.

You might want to get that resubmitted so NGC can correct the slab mistake.

For a Philadelphia coin or a New Orleans one? That mint mark doubles the value.

Let's say that I knew EXACTLY what I was buying. And I've very happy with it - it's a decent strike and 51Os are often pretty weakly struck. I must say I had a conversation with the dealer about another dealer who has a Ben that is mis-dated and NGC keeps pushing him to return to be 'fixed'. I didn't say a word.

Nice score, that isn't a series that I am very familiar with, but that is a nice piece. It does look like the "O" carries a bit of a premium. I wonder how often the top TPGs mis-date coins?
As an aside, how are the Fort Worth shows in general? Do they tend to have decent prices/selection? I will probably be in the Metroplex in a few weeks, and it looks like it will coincide with the Coin Club Show so I might have to check it out.

With the 3cs the ONLY mintmark in the entire set was the 1st year New Orleans. After that it's Philly all the way.
I haven't been to enough of the area shows to really say. FWCC definitely did a nice job. I'm looking forward to the TNA show in May. I wasn't that impressed with the Round Rock show - although I did find a couple nice pieces, it's a 400 mile r/t drive (just a lil' stretch in Texas terms). But it sounds like it's under new management.
The recent show in Grapevine was fair to ok.
The Colin County CC has a show in April that sounds good.
I'd say it's like everywhere else, some good some so-so. I've found the same thing in the Northwest. Last weeks show at the VFW hall was only about 20 tables, but I had a fun couple hours - mostly chatting with people from the club I'm acquainted with. I did get to search through a large area dealer's in box - something I wouldn't have been able to do at a big, busy show.
Which club show are you talking about?
The Brown County show in two weeks? That's about 160mi each way for me and I'll have to think about it. But the next Ft Worth CC show in March? I'll definitely be back. Oh, and the hot dog cart's brat was at least a B+ (no deli mustard or I'd have gone A-). Better than the Grapevine show's hamburger (although that's wasn't BAD by any stretch of the imagination).

Nice, I was stuck at work from 6:30am until 7:00pm today and could not make the Cowtown show, I've always found a deal or two hiding at one of the tables in the past, last time was an unattributed 1867 DDO 2¢ in EF/AU for $45.00 at the end of the show too, can't believe nobody else beat me too that one. Great score on a nice N.O. 3¢ silver!

Great snag!
Just goes to show why NGC is one of the top tier TPGs! (That is heavy sarcasm by the way)

Amazing pick up! Congrats!! Quote: I wonder how often the top TPGs mis-date coins? It happens so often with PCGS that label errors aren't covered by their guarantee.

Quote: I wonder how often the top TPGs mis-date coins? When you do over 20 million coins some are bound to get out with a label inconsistency. Its pretty rare but it does happen from time to time. The surprising part is that the original submitter never got that corrected given the higher O value.

Nice score getting an 1851-O for a 'P' price.
Just curious. If a coin is mis-labeled and you sent it back to get corrected, does it cost anything? What if you are not the original submitter?
