Nice. I've heard these called Rocking Horse crowns before. If were in the city in the last few years you may have seen the rocking horse adjacent to George's statue in Trafalgar Square.

Sorry Marbury, the news isn't good - unusual 1 off issues get kept aside, so many uncirculated examples are around. Catalogue value is £20 UNC (read, MS) which is what you'd pay a dealer for it, so its still £15. However, you are probably owner of the only one to ever be slabbed and that does add value. You also stand a good chance of hooking some suckers from the American market who likely wont recognise the type but will recognise the number (A lot of people will also take the slab to mean that the type is rare or often faked). I bet the population in this grade is 1 across all TPGs - such numbers could do you well.

Such is the mindset over here that some people tend to attach value to the slab itself.
If you had 2 of the exact same coin in identical condition, one in a slab and the other not, I guarantee you there are people who would pay considerably more for the slabbed one just because it is slabbed. It's ridiculous, but that's how it is.

Ben, with perhaps the exception of the UK, the crown size is one of the most collected worldwide. People love big hunks of silver and I'd be amazed if this coin was in a population of anything less than 100. That said, nice as it is; it's not super rare. I can't see this recovering the cost of slabbing in the foreseeable future.

Looking at final prices on ebay, highest price realised recently in the UK was £35 for a 1935 Crown. You can probably add a little to that for it being slabbed. Would definitely get a higher price if sold overseas I see a slabbed MS63 selling for $100 and a couple of MS65 for $160 in completed listings.

I will not make a big profit on this.....but I will recover the cost of the coin which I overpaid for and the slab cost as it was send in a large batch of other world coins too. So my view is I got lucky after making an error buying the things in the first place.

So my view is I got lucky after making an error buying the things in the first place. Two things to consider marlbury. First, are you happy with the coin? If so, that's great, after all we collect to enjoy. OK, it may not be as scarce as you originally thought but it's still nice coin. Second, collecting is a learning experience. You've learnt something about 1935 crowns and it hasn't cost a fortune. It might even make you a nice little profit if you decide to sell. All good, no?

I was never under the impression it was rare at all.......it was only that the grate was high and that I had not see one in that condition.......my only error was that I bought it without doing my research on price.
