I just contacted Tom Deck and he offered around $550 for it. I haven't taken up on his offer as I am looking for a higher amount (about $1000). At least he was friendly. I hope I can get what I want, but it is not looking very hopeful.

Should have consigned it to the EAC auction, but definitely too late to do so now as the auction was yesterday. If you can afford to hang on for another whole year, that is what I would consider doing. You will get the best and most interested collectors looking at this piece, and who better to market directly to, than the actual buying marketplace you are after? Tom is a fair dealer so his offer should be fair (for a wholesale offer) remember he needs to make a living, so by reselling it he would probably be marking it up at least 30% or more even, I'd guess he would probably list the coin for around $750.00 unless he already has a buyer for the piece which is a very distinct possibility.
Good luck in what ever you choose to do - it's been a fun story to follow, let us know if you sell the coin down the road.

Bob Grellman offered to consign it to an auction in August with the Goldbergs. I still have plenty of time to make my final decision. I will keep you guys posted on any future updates.
By the way, Grellman still has the coin. He's keeping it until I make my decision.

I consigned an NC variety to a Goldberg auction, via Bob Grellman, a few years ago. I was VERY pleased with the results. The EAC auction is a fine one, too, as Westcoin stated. By taking the auction route, you have an edge, as there will be some serious collectors bidding against the dealers. That said, one copper that I had previously consigned to sell at auction with a $5500 reserve, failed to sell. A dealer later bought it for a few thousand more; this, as he had a buyer for a quick turnaround. There's always someone who will pay more, it seems. That's the nature of the game ...

Goldberg's catalog photos are always stunning! I'm sure they bring in all the serious EAC collectors. That would be a great path to go IMO.

They haven't posted the results yet but there was a Fr2 121a in last weekends EAC sale. Lot 128. When they post the results we should have a better idea of the value of this piece.

I found the auction catalog. The S-121a is on page 10 http://www.eacs.org/catalogs/EAC_2_2014.pdfMine has far superior details and the damage may be as bad as on mine, so I think I'll put it up for auction with a $750 reserve. What do you guys think?

Pre-auction bidding is now open. It is lot 180 and you can see it in the link below. The bid is already $500, a 100x increase to what I paid. However, I think the estimate is a bit high, and the rarity is also a little high, but oh well. http://images.goldbergauctions.com/...ter=9&page=1
