Try Colonial Acres. I sold a couple of coins to them several years ago and received a fair price.

It's not a matter of 'where' but unfortunately a matter of 'when'.
You're deciding to sell at a rotten time for the Canadian market.
Wherever you go to sell, hopefully you're sitting down with a tank of oxygen when they tell you what they're prepared to give you.

How about offering it here, at least for a short period, before trying the dealers? :)

Right, I'm also curious why you are selling; I hope everything is OK at your end.

Thanks guys, well reason is simple.. after 7 years Immigration has now refused my girlfriends claim and they want to send her back to Hungary.. It really bites.... So I decided to drop it all and move there if thats what it takes...
Now to sell it here as a collection would just be to much , so if anyone wants to PM me feel free.....@ double, ya O know all about it.. Its not my first go round at this....

I imagine your collection is quite extensive & expensive. Look into renting a table at a coin show.

Try contacting Sean Isaacs of Alliance Coins & Banknotes in Almonte. If I was in your shoes, that is where I would go.
Obviously, if you need a "home" for your 1921 50c altered date - I would be willing to shepherd that into a teaching collection for you, possibly with the Canadian Currency Museum, or in long term safe storage for you.
Good luck Sid!!

Selling large quantities on ebay in 99 cent/no reserve auctions can gather a lot of interest. Having many auctions ending around the same day/time will get a lot of eyes and bids on the coins. Also a lot of multiple lot winners so it won't be as time consuming to ship everything individually.

I have loved what I have seen of your coins.. they're beautiful!! I have to say kudos to you! I know we're on a coin board, but you're making a major life decision. From seeing only some of the coins in your collection I know that you have put a lot of work and effort into it, so you are genuinely making a good sacrifice for a GREAT cause (LOVE & FAMILY)..
I think that a larger auction house would be happy to have your collection... If I were in your shoes I think I would probably contact either TCNC or Heritage.. send it all to them and then just wait for the cheque. I personally would only go to a coin dealer at last resort.. knowing full well they have to make a buck too, the final price wouldn't be great.. but at least in an auction all you need is two people that really want each piece and you could end up getting a decent dollar amount even after all fees. Plus it's all done.. in one final swoop.. much like ripping off a bandaid.

@persistnt.....I'm not sure where the coin collecting demographics are.....Do you see any young collectors at shows? With coins, such as silver dollars, you can quickly accumulate every example, and the cost to upgrade becomes nuts....but I've been and done that, and will not be re-entering the market. I had TERRIBLE pricing in the last Moore Auction for my few coins.....embarrassing percentages of book. When I sold off my collection of silver dollars & large cents in 2002, I think I got the crest of the coin collecting demographic wave.....Now, RCM seems to suck a big amount of collecting money into their crappy universe...
